What are the earliest and latest appointments you offer?
Our first appointment of the day is 8:30 and our last is 4:30. If you really need to be seen a little before or after these times we can usually make accommodations.
How far ahead do I need to schedule an appointment?
We recommend calling us a few days before you need to be seen. Follow up appointments should be made as soon as possible to make sure you have an appointment time most convenient to you. As always, if you need to get in right away for urgent care give us a call and we will do our best to have you seen that day.
I think I have an infection. Can you call in an antibiotic for me?
There are many types of infections that need various types of treatments. Diagnosing and treating patients over the phone cannot give you the high level of care you and your family deserve. We will be happy to work you into our schedule right away so you can have timely, appropriate medical care. Antibiotics that are not taken properly or are taken for non-bacterial infections lead to antibiotic resistance and "superbugs" that are becoming a serious medical problem in this country.
How can I get medicines refilled? How about pain medications?
Usually, if you are out of refills the pharmacy will fax us over a refill request. You can also leave a message for our nurse. Please give us 48 hours to process all refill requests. We do not refill medicines after office hours or while on call because all refill requests need to have your chart pulled and reviewed before the refill can be authorized. Pain medications and other controlled substances are a special class of medication. They will be prescribed so that you should not need refills in between appointments. If you are out of these medications it is likely that it is time for you to be seen and you will need to make an appointment.
What should I do if I have a medical emergency when your office is closed?
If you are having a true medical emergency call 911. Our office answers the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. One of our providers will be available to answer your questions and offer advice.Usually we will be able to see you in the office first thing next morning. We do not prescribe or call in medications over the phone while on call as you will need to be seen to be properly diagnosed and treated.
I am coming in to have lab work done. Do I need to be fasting?
The routine labs which require fasting are for cholesterol and for blood sugar. There are some specialty labs which also require fasting so if you are in doubt, please call us before your appointment.
My child has their own physician but I can't get an appointment to have their earache evaluated for another 2 days. Can I bring them in to see you?
Yes you may. Even patients who are new to our practice can usually be seen the same day for urgent care visits.
I saw Dr. Beasley for weight loss. Will Dr. Holman take care of my non-weight related medical problems during my visit?
In order to maximize your weight loss treatment, weight loss visits are to discuss and treat weight problems. Please separately schedule a regular medical appointment to discuss other medical issues. Patients with diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol will still need regular 3 month visits.
